I thought the Grammys were especially interesting and entertaining this year! I loved the way the artists from the different genres were mixed into different songs throughout the entire show. Keith Urban was a perfect fit with Justin T. and B.B King. Keith also sat in on guitar as Al Green and Justin Timberlake teamed up on Al’s R&B classic “Let’s Stay Together.”
Taylor Swift and Mylie did a nice mix on “Fifteen”.
Robert Plant, former Led Zeppelin front man, joined Alison Krauss near the end of the show for “Rich Woman” and “Gone Gone Gone”. Their new album collected a total of five trophies, making them the biggest winners.
Indie artists faired well at the Grammy’s too! “When CD Baby first started, it was nearly unheard of for a truly independent artist to earn a Grammy nomination (much less win one). Now, a little more than 10 years later, at least 15 (yes, 15!) of our artists were recognized for their outstanding achievements with a Grammy nomination in 2008 alone! The list, with links to the artists, is included at the end of this email, and we are thrilled to report that veteran independents (and CD Baby artists) Burning Spear and Pete Seeger both got to take home one of those little golden gramophones!” (Tony van Veen)
There is great hope for Indies like me!!
